Eva Woolridge

National Board Member

Eva Woolridge (she/her) is a Black-American/Chinese-American photographer and visual storyteller based in Brooklyn, NY. Her work explores the emotional, spiritual, and sexual dimensions of femininity through a lens that reclaims and uplifts the narratives of marginalized communities. Woolridge’s acclaimed photo series, including Embrace Your Essence and the Leica Women in Foto Award-winning Size of a Grapefruit, challenges societal standards of beauty and addresses medical neglect and body autonomy. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Harper’s Bazaar, Teen Vogue, Bomb Magazine, and Ubikwist, and she served on the Diversity Advisory Council for Fuji Cameras North America in 2020 and is currently a national board member for APA (American Photographic Artists). A dedicated educator and speaker, Woolridge leads workshops with Leica Akademie and Skillshare to confront racial disparities in photography. Her portraits are a bold commentary on the objectification of marginalized bodies, reframing beauty through strength, vulnerability, and truth.
